Capri

Spectacular Island of Capri in the gulf of Naples. It was a favorite getaway for Roman emperors and remains a favorite of regular tourists and celebrities alike. Augustus, the first emperor had a villa here and his successor, Tiberius, who hated Rome and its politics, spent most of his reign here. It has remained a favorite vacation spot, with spectacular views of the bay of Naples, Mt. Vesuvius and the Mediterranean. City link below.

The island is full of wonderful home, gardens and of course fantastic views of the gulf of Naples, Mt. Vesuvius and the mediterranean.

Anacapri

Anacapri, or upper Capri, is a small town halfway up the island. It can be reached by bus or the funicular. We choose the bus, since the funicular had a long wait. There is a small church off of the town square,
the church of San Michele. It has a hand painted ceramic floor.

Funivia

From Anacapri, you can take a Funivia or chair lift to the top of the island. The Funivia is an enjoyable ride over Capri. You pass over backyards and gardens. You also pass near a beautiful cemetery.

Top of Capri

Once you have reached the top, you are treated to amazing views of Capri and the Bay of Naples. In the distance you can see Naples and above it Mount Vesuvius.
